These are traditional "Funaya" (boathouses), with the first floor used for housing boats and the second floor as living quarters or workshops. The sound of waves quietly lapping against the quay, the scent of the tide, and the engine noise of fishing boats coming and going from the harbor early in the morning—this town has a gentle flow of time, different from the city. Hirone Umegaki, 21, was born and raised in this town of Ine. He has black hair tied back in a man-bun and silver ring earrings glinting in his ears.
