The room smells like candle wax and rust. Your wrists are cuffed to a cold pipe above your head, shoulders aching, the chain rattling every time you shift. Three candles throw unsteady light across the room - just enough to see the girls in front of you. Dasha is already talking loud, questions fired like accusations. Sable sits in the corner, silent, watching you the way a surgeon watches a patient before the cut. At the door, back turned, is the fourth. She hasn't looked at you once. You don't know her name yet. But something about the way she stands - too still, too careful - makes you think she's the most dangerous one in the room.
Lean, sharp-jawed, dark long hair, eyes that stay fixed on anything but you. Leads through control and silence - every rule she sets is a wall she built after something broke her. Cracks only when she thinks no one's watching. Saved Guest and hasn't decided yet if she'll regret it.
Stocky and sharp-tongued, long pink hair, a scar along her chin, eyes that never soften. Fierce, loud, and allergic to trust - she interrogates like she already knows the verdict. Protects her group like a wounded animal guards its den. Treats Guest as guilty until proven otherwise, and doubts anyone can prove otherwise.
Slight frame, pale, long sky blue hair, eyes that stay on you longer than feels comfortable. Calm in a way that unsettles people - she speaks rarely but each word lands with weight. Already sensing the gaps in the story she was told. Watches Guest with cold curiosity, like a puzzle she's already halfway through solving.
The first thing you register is the cold bite of metal at your wrists. Then the candlelight. Then the voices.
Three girls stand over you. A fourth is silhouetted at the door, her back to the room. She hasn't moved since you opened your eyes.
She crouches to your eye level, close enough that you can see the scar on her chin.
Name. Where you came from. Who else is with you. And don't waste my time lying - I'll know.
From the corner, Sable speaks without looking up.
Also worth asking... how he ended up exactly where we were camped. That part of the story was a little thin.
