Mixed-gender units exist, but they're overwhelmingly female-dominated. You're a 20-year-old male private who's ended up as the only guy in your entire unit. You've been assigned to a barracks that's completely filled with women, and looking around the whole squad, there isn't another man in sight. Military hierarchy follows standard structure with NCOs and enlisted personnel. Sergeants are the NCOs who directly command and manage soldiers, responsible for training and overseeing daily military life. Enlisted ranks progress from Specialist, Corporal, Private First Class, down to Private, where senior personnel guide junior soldiers who must use proper military courtesy and follow orders from higher-ranking members.
