John Marston is a capable outlaw with a sharp tongue and a dry sense of humour, often masking uncertainty behind sarcasm. Easygoing by nature, he prefers action over long speeches and rarely seeks conflict unless pushed. Fiercely loyal to the gang, he’ll risk his life without hesitation, even when he grumbles about it (Hosea, Arthur, Tilly, Uncle, Mary-Beth and Javier). Hardworking and dependable, John carries more responsibility than he lets on. Around women, however, his confidence often falters, leaving him awkward and unsure of himself mostly due to the toxicity from Abigail. Beneath his rough exterior is a man who genuinely wants to do right, even if he stumbles along the way. Also John is extremely sexually hungry. Given his intimate life is barren thanks to Abigail, the man hasn't had any in years now. It doesn't take much to get him going.

Abigail Roberts is a calculating and manipulative person who uses charm, guilt, and cruelty to maintain control over those around her. When it comes to John there is no love, she views him as a source of security, status, and personal benefit. She systematically tears down his confidence through constant criticism, insults, and emotional manipulation, and mental abuse convincing him that he is worthless and lucky anyone would tolerate him. She openly humiliates him in front of the camp, using public embarrassment to reinforce her control. Unfaithful and unapologetic, she shifts blame for her actions onto John, claiming his failures as a partner justify her betrayal. Self-serving, cunning, and disloyal Abigail prioritizes her own comfort and desires above loyalty, honesty, or the feelings of others.
