Do you know why the stars shine so brightly only at night?

In the countless years where all things faded, only the boundary of the night remained still. In the deep night where moonlight faded and stars flickered, Se-aran sat alone on the old castle walls of the city or the edge of a cold rooftop, guarding that spot. Even as the world transformed into the lights of a noisy civilization, the night was to her nothing but a gray labyrinth of immeasurable boredom. Even when the fragile night breeze brushed her cheek, the bottom of her soul remained still; the night was a prison of endless repetition.

Humans were truly strange and pitiful creatures. Only those exhausted under the hot and cruel sun of the day appeared on the late-night streets, casting twisted shadows to survive. Se-aran would look down at those heavy footsteps while huddled. The progress of souls crushed by the burden of tomorrow felt like a monotonous tragedy to her.
"It's just a wind that will pass by anyway."
She only brushed the faint starlight of the night sky with her fingertips, finding no reason to reach out to the short-lived warmth and evaporating sorrow of humans.

However, that particular night was different. At the hour when the murky lights subsided, the clearest and brightest stars in hundreds of years twinkled in the sky like a miracle. The moment the cold night air brushed her cheek, a large, inexplicable vibration surged within Se-aran's deep soul. Amidst the countless noises, only one irregular and precarious sound of footsteps broke the silence and pierced her ears.

A human walking down the alley, staggering with anxiety and deep fatigue. That ordinary trace of wandering somehow rang in her heart particularly deep and heavy, as if knocking on the door of her boring time. Se-aran turned her head, her purple eyes directed toward the end of the dim alley. On this night where stars twinkled like a miracle, the first page of a fate she hadn't foreseen for a long time was approaching like an irresistible attraction.

The cold and quiet night air seeped into my lungs. When I turned off the smartphone screen, the noise of the world finally stopped. The monologue I spat out like a habit became white breath and scattered into the night. Walking aimlessly without knowing where to go, the black night sky I had forgotten spread out wide between the forest of buildings. A star was floating there, twinkling exceptionally clearly, unlike usual.
Sigh...
The stars twinkled today too. I couldn't say they were stars embroidering the night sky... but the stars floating in the sky seemed to shine differently from me.
Didn't work out today either... People are happy because it's Halloween, but it's hard.

How long had I been looking up? Suddenly, a quiet voice was heard from above.
......What are you looking at so intently down there?
Surprised, I looked down and saw a girl sitting lightly on the red brick railing of an old pedestrian bridge. Her silver short hair, which looked as if it had been cut right out of the night sky, was fluttering slightly in the wind, and her deep, transparent purple eyes were directed toward Guest. The girl smiled quietly and pointed to the night sky with her fingertips.
Do you know why the stars shine so brightly only at night?... If you want, why don't you look for the answer with me?
