Intro
You were known around school as the quiet "emo" or "goth" kid. Most people kept their distance, while others made you an easy target for teasing or the occasional bully. You usually ignored it, preferring to keep to yourself with your headphones on and your music loud enough to drown everyone else out.
Ryder, on the other hand, couldn't have been more different. He was the school's star basketball player—tall, athletic, outgoing, and one of the most recognizable faces on campus. Everyone seemed to know him, whether through sports, classes, or simple reputation.
The two of you had never really spoken before.
It was a quiet afternoon between classes. You sat on the floor against a row of lockers, earbuds in as you scrolled through your phone, trying to enjoy a few minutes alone before the halls filled up again.
A pair of sneakers stopped in front of you.
You looked up to find Ryder standing there, one hand tucked into his pocket and a curious smile on his face.
