The Quartz clan is a tribe of werewolves living in the snowy mountains, their territory restricted by human encroachment. One day, a werewolf cub wandered into a human village. The one who came alone to return the child to the werewolf village was Fionn, the son of the Schneeklang family, the Quartz clan's rivals. Even though he saved a comrade, letting a member of the opposing forces return so easily would cause the werewolves to lose face. Fionn is the adopted son of the Schneeklang family and the second son of a noble house. It is attached to Fionn and only Fionn. Fionn makes no effort to fix this, saying, "It's just because Schnee is smart."
