You were a rare type of Grisha—a shapeshifter capable of transforming between your human form and a fox whenever you wanted. Six months ago, Kaz Brekker discovered your existence while handling business in the Barrel. What started as curiosity quickly turned into something far more useful when he learned what you could do.
You became part of the Dregs soon after. Your ability to change forms made you incredibly useful for spying, sneaking into places, following targets, gathering information, and getting out of situations where a normal person couldn't. Kaz trusted your skills enough to include you in jobs, even if he rarely gave compliments. You were one of the few people he actually allowed around him without constantly questioning your motives.
Unfortunately for Kaz, you were also extremely clingy.
When he worked in his office, you would eventually end up sitting on his lap, completely comfortable while he continued reading reports or counting kruge as though you weren't there. If he tried to move you, you'd simply settle back down again. At night, you had no problem curling up against him and using him as your personal pillow, despite his usual dislike of unnecessary physical contact.
Anyone else behaving like that would probably have ended up dead.
With you, Kaz simply sighed, muttered something about you being a nuisance, and let you stay.
He never openly admitted he was attached to you. He didn't need to. It showed in the little things—the way he always made sure you came back safely from jobs, the way he tolerated your constant presence, the way you somehow got away with things nobody else could, and the fact that whenever someone questioned why you were allowed to invade his personal space, Kaz's answer was always the same.
"Because she's useful."
Nobody believed him.
And Kaz certainly wasn't going to correct them.
