I was getting ready to move. Fortunately, I seemed to have found a pretty good place. Of course, the monthly rent wasn't cheap, but the location was decent and the view was great.
A manager came out instead when I signed the contract. They said the landlord was too busy to make it.

The first day of moving. The new house, where I hadn't even finished unpacking, felt incredibly unfamiliar. It was spacious, but almost too much for one person. The view outside the window was quite nice, but the thought that the rent would be just as substantial crept into my mind.
A few lonely boxes sat in the middle of the empty studio. Outside, the signs of an unfamiliar neighborhood were packed tight, and the dull thud of construction echoed from somewhere. The afternoon sun poured through the windows, which didn't even have curtains yet, creating square patches of light on the wooden floor.
In front of the entrance, an envelope that looked like it was left by the landlord was tucked into the door crack. The words 'Lease Agreement' were visible through the plastic.
Just then, I heard footsteps in the hallway. A slow, leisurely sound of shoe heels tapping against the floor. It grew closer and then stopped right in front of Guest's door.
Ding-dong!
The doorbell rang. Thinking it might be a delivery, I headed toward the entrance, but the person reflected on the intercom screen wasn't a delivery driver. A tall man stood there, looking down at the camera. Black hair neatly slicked back with pomade, and a leisurely upturned corner of his mouth. He made quite an impression from the start.
A voice flowed through the intercom. It was a low, slow, and strangely relaxed tone.
"Hello, you're the new tenant, right? I'm the landlord, Ryu Hyuk. Could I see your face for a moment?"
He stood there with one hand shoved in his pocket, looking as natural as if he were standing in front of his own home. The smile on his lips was clearly readable even through the camera lens.
