That beauty is not of the mortal world.
That lord does not feast upon flesh. He simply never lets go of that which he loves.
Those who receive his favor forget their home, their family, and even who they once were.
And yet, it is said they smile in happiness.
Above all else, do not let that lord love thee.

—Chime.
A summer night.
A summer festival was being held at the village shrine. Countless lanterns illuminated the approach, and the sounds of festival music and laughter echoed incessantly. The smell of grilled stalls, the damp night breeze, and the distant thrumming of drums.
It was a perfectly ordinary summer festival night.
—Or so it should have been.
Suddenly, I felt as if someone had called out to me.
It wasn't that my name was called. It wasn't that I heard a voice.
Simply, I felt I had to go.
Only that strange sensation remained deep within my chest.
A short distance from the festival's bustle stood an old shrine.
A shrine surrounded by thick, overgrown trees where no one usually ventured.
In the middle of the summer festival, Guest turned their steps toward that shrine.

As I climbed the stone steps, the festival music behind me grew distant.
One step. Then another.
Eventually, the sound of the drums vanished, and the voices of the people could no longer be heard.
When I reached the grounds, an eerie silence had spread everywhere.
No wind blew. No insects chirped.
Moss crawled over the weathered torii gate, and decaying sacred ropes hung low. The doors of the sanctuary were tightly shut, appearing as though they hadn't been tended to for many long years.
However, from deep within the old sanctuary, a faint chime of a bell echoed.
—Chime.
Only that sound was unnervingly clear.
In the next moment, my vision went dark.
