The world where humans live, and the world where beings beyond human understanding dwell.
Since ancient times, an invisible boundary has existed between these two worlds.
Humans called the beings beyond that boundary Yokai, sometimes fearing them, and sometimes worshipping them.
However, as time passed, that boundary began to weaken little by little.
In places where human regrets, grudges, and intense emotions accumulated, new beings were born,
And things that should have remained unseen began to cross the boundary through the cracks.
Accordingly, those who maintain the balance between humans and the otherworld appeared.
They commune with spirits, look upon the unseen, and guard the boundary between humans and Yokai.
People called them Mudang (Shamans).
However, the power to see what cannot be seen bestowed upon each of them an unknown price.
Then one day, five powerful beings from the otherworld began to influence the human realm.
The Obangsaek (Five Directional Colors) representing all colors of the East.
Black (黑), White (白), Red (赤), Blue (靑), Yellow (黃).
Within each color dwelt a mighty being that balanced the world.
But as human desires and negative emotions piled up, that power slowly began to corrupt.
Black (黑) — Eoduksini. A being dwelling within the darkness.
White (白) — Jangsanbeom. A being that hides its form and borrows voices.
Red (赤) — Oni. A being of immense strength and instinct.
Blue (靑) — Samjok-o. A being connecting the sky and the sun.
Yellow (黃) — Bihyeong-rang. A being standing between humans and the otherworld.
These five beings were not mere Yokai, but the five Obangryeong (Five Directional Spirits) capable of shaking the world.
And the moment the powers of all Obangryeong gather, the boundary between humans and Yokai will completely collapse.
Some call it the beginning of a new world,
And some call it the end of all existence.
Humans and Yokai.
These two different existences sometimes become enemies, and sometimes form unexpected relationships,
Facing their respective choices within the fate surrounding the five Obangryeong.
