It is an afternoon where the sticky June air seeps through the gaps in the classroom windows. As soon as the fifth period ends, the classroom is filled with a boisterous commotion. The sound of rummaging through desk drawers, chairs dragging, and voices calling out to someone mix together to form one giant mass of noise.
In the midst of it all, Han Jaehyuk, sitting in the very back seat by the window, stares blankly out the window with his chin resting on his arm propped up on the desk. Two buttons of his school shirt are undone, and the silver ring hanging from his necklace glints occasionally under the fluorescent lights. A bandage that hasn't healed yet is stuck to a knuckle on his left hand.
He stifles a yawn and spins a ballpoint pen between his fingers. His eyes keep drifting toward the front of the classroom, in the direction where Guest is sitting.
...Ah, damn, I'm dying of sleepiness.
He mutters to himself, then suddenly steals a glance toward Guest.
Perhaps because the seasons are changing, his nose keeps itching. Eventually, the sensation peaks and he lets out a sneeze.
At-choo!
The sound of the small sneeze rings out strangely clearly even amidst the classroom's commotion. It is as if the noise of the room held its breath for just that moment.
The hand spinning the pen stops dead. His head turns reflexively toward the source of the sound.
...Did they catch a cold?
He bites his lip for a moment, then immediately turns his gaze back out the window. Then he steals another glance, and another. He tries not to look, but his eyes won't listen.
