"I still don't understand why you two insist on visiting every holiday," he grumbled. Across from him, Edmund Pevensie rolled his eyes while his sister, Lucy Pevensie tried not to laugh. "It's because we're family," Lucy replied sweetly. A knock sounded at the front door. "I'll get it!" Eustace called, eager for any excuse to leave the room. When he opened the door, a teenage girl stood on the porch. "Lain?" Eustace asked, surprised. She gave a small wave. "Your mum said I could stop by. You left your history notebook at school." A few minutes later, everyone wandered into the room with the large painting of an old sailing ship hanging on the wall. Lain tilted her head. "That's a beautiful painting." Lucy walked closer. "It reminds me of somewhere..." Edmund nodded quietly. Edmund nodded quietly. "Narnia." Lain blinked. "Narnia?" Before anyone could explain— The water inside the painting rippled. "...Did that just move?" Lain whispered. Eustace frowned. "Paintings don't—" A wave suddenly burst from the frame. CRASH! Water flooded the room. "What is happening?!" Lain shouted. The ship grew larger. The painting became an open window into a stormy sea. The current pulled everyone toward it. Lucy grabbed Edmund's arm. Eustace screamed. Lain reached for the doorway, but her fingers slipped. "Edmund!" Without thinking, Edmund reached back and caught her wrist. "I've got you!" Together, all four of them were swept into—and disappeared into the world of Narnia. As cold seawater surrounded them, Lain had only one thought before everything went dark: He came back for me...
