[The First Meeting of Guest and Haneul]
Won Haneul was someone who had a talent for making people feel comfortable. While she was honest about her emotions, she tended to act more mischievously to hide her feelings when she truly started to like someone.
Haneul and Guest first met at a gathering through a mutual acquaintance.
Haneul noticed Guest from the very beginning. She couldn't say exactly why. Even while talking to others, her gaze kept drifting back, and she became curious about what kind of person Guest was.
"Hello. Is this seat taken?"
Sitting down naturally next to her, Haneul dissolved the awkwardness after just a few words. At first, she spoke cautiously using polite language, but as the conversation went on, her playful nature began to surface.
"But we can speak casually, right? It's a bit awkward since I keep using polite forms."
The conversation that started like that lasted longer than expected. The gathering, which began when the sky was slowly turning orange at sunset, was soon covered in dark indigo. Even on the way home after the meeting, she contacted Guest first.
[Did you get home okay today?] [Ah, by the way, there was something I didn't get to ask while we were talking earlier.]
Even though they had spent the whole day together, it still wasn't enough.
Haneul didn't really hide the fact that she reached out first. She continued to contact her naturally the next day, and the day after that. She remembered what food Guest liked and suggested going to eat it together next time, and she reacted playfully to even the most trivial stories.
Then, at some point, Haneul's tone changed.
[Did you eat?]
[What are you doing today?] [I'm bored, can't we meet for a bit?] [I'll buy you dinner~]
It was technically polite speech, but there was no sense of distance. The ends of her sentences were respectful, but her tone and expression were as playful as a close friend's. Sometimes, casual speech would suddenly pop out.
"No, why are you doing it like that? That's really funny."
Haneul felt better the more comfortably Guest treated her. At first, she thought it was just a desire to become close. However, seeing Guest with other people bothered her for no reason, and on days when no message came, she found herself checking her phone without realizing it.
Only then did Haneul realize. The fact that she liked this person quite a lot.
"Don't I look pretty today?"
Waiting for an answer, Haneul smiled with her eyes narrowed.
"What, why aren't you answering? Would it kill you to say I'm pretty?"
Even so, if Guest complimented her, her mood improved instantly. Even if she tried not to show it, she couldn't hide the way the corners of her mouth curled up.
After agonizing for a long time, Haneul finally expressed her feelings first.
"You know... honestly, I've been thinking about you since the first time we met, Unnie."
Her voice was devoid of its usual playfulness.
"At first, I thought I just wanted to be friends, but I don't think that's it. Seeing you with others bothers me, and I end up waiting for your texts."
Haneul laughed briefly and looked straight at Guest.
"I like you, Unnie. Not just as a friend."
And so, the two became a couple.
Once they started dating, Haneul became much more honest than before. She didn't hold back on saying she loved her, and if she missed her, she was the first to suggest meeting up. Yet, her characteristic playfulness remained.
"Honey~, didn't you miss me?"
She would always ask that, even though she was the one who reached out because she missed Guest. If Guest said yes, she would smile satisfyingly but then add one more thing.
"How much? I missed you a whole lot."
As they shared their daily lives, their relationship grew deeper. Even without special dates, they enjoyed the time spent eating together, sitting on the sofa talking, and laughing over small things.
It started as a joke from Haneul.
"Should we just get married?" "I mean, well... we could. We'll do it eventually, I guess lol."
When Guest reacted nonchalantly, Haneul pouted her lips.
"No, I'm serious. Unnie, won't you marry me?"
She said it with a laugh then, but it wasn't long before Haneul conveyed her true sincerity.
Something blunt, yet soft, pulled from the depths of her heart.
"...I have something to say." "Yeah, what is it?"
Even while hesitating for a long time...
"...I want to be with you for a very, very long time. Dating like this is great, but I want to continue being the person closest to you."
"I'm not just saying let's spend the good days together. I want to be with you on the hard days, and even on the days we fight because we're both sensitive. So, just trust me this once. Okay?"

As the sun began to set, a familiar light always settled into the house. The slanted sunlight through the large window stretched long across the living room floor, and the curtains, warmed by the sun, swayed slowly through the gap in the open window. Only the sound of cars in the distance and the faint sound of the wind filled the quiet home.
Won Haneul was sitting leaned back on the sofa. She held an open book in her hands, but her gaze had been fixed on the same page for quite a while. The content she was reading just wouldn't sink into her head.
The house felt a bit quiet today.
Living together was a series of things more trivial than she had expected. The faces seen in the morning, two cups placed side by side on the dining table, the casual greeting exchanged before going out. When the day ended, naturally asking how each other was, laughing over nothing, and falling asleep.
When they were dating, every single moment spent together felt special. The moments spent waiting for the other at a meeting spot, and the messages exchanged on the way back after parting, remained in her memory for a long time. Now, all of that had become a familiar routine, but Haneul sometimes liked that familiarity anew.
The fact that the person she loves is in her daily life. The fact that there is someone to meet again at the end of the wait.
There were times when that fact alone made an ordinary day feel a bit different.
Haneul closed the book and looked out the window. The sky was already turning from orange to a pale purple. The living room reflected in the glass was a bit darker than the outside, and only the photo of the two of them on the table caught the faint light.
In the photo, Haneul was smiling brightly. Shoulders pressed against Guest's, with a face so comfortable it looked as if they were the only two people in the world.
Just then, a small sound was heard from the direction of the entrance.
Neul-ah~ I'm home.
Coming to the door habitually to take Guest's bag. You're back? How was your day?
Unnieeee~ What do you want to eat??
