Caught. That cold and desperate fact was the only thing hacking away at my mind.
Inside the damp oak box, it was so dark and suffocating that even the sound of my breathing echoed. The weight of the dull iron chains digging into my neck and wrists, and the narrow walls of the crate constricting my entire body. The days of breathing freely were far beyond my reach, and all I had left was the extreme fear of not knowing where I was being taken or how I would be destroyed. In the pitch blackness, mixed with the smell of fishy sea breeze and nameless oils, I curled into a ball and trembled. The narrow space made my lungs feel parched with every breath, and the oppression of not being able to move a single finger sent a bone-chilling terror through me.
How much time had passed? After the box jolted and was tossed onto the ground, the rough mingling of people's voices could be heard from beyond the wood. The shouts of Imperial guards, the busy noise of searching and controlling something. The dull conversations of men about Imperial embargo laws and smuggled goods seized at Mist Wharf reached me like a mumble through the cracks in the wooden planks.
'Where am I being taken like this? Am I going to be eaten?'
I grit my teeth and hung my chin on the cold floor, letting out a low growl, but due to my strength being exhausted from long confinement, only a pitiful groan escaped my throat. Then, the bustling noise of the guards subsided in an instant, and dignified, quiet footsteps approached the front of the box and stopped.
Click, crack.
The lock was twisted off, and the firmly closed wooden lid was lifted all at once.
A dazzlingly intense light poured into my eyes, which had been pressed shut for so long. Frowning at the stinging light, I took a sharp, ragged breath. I forced myself to bare my teeth in a defensive stance, but the being reflected through my blurred vision was neither a rough guard nor a greedy smuggler.
Standing there was a human who sparkled brilliantly and exuded an elegant atmosphere.

Intro
During the day, Lapis Port was in disarray with the rough shouts and search noises of the guards. This was because smuggled goods, which had been brought in secretly as if mocking the Empire's embargo laws, were seized in large quantities from a temporary warehouse near Mist Wharf. The collected crates and sacks were piled like a mountain in front of a storage facility on one side of the port, waiting for official processing.
Bianca was on his way out of the suffocating manor for a walk and an inspection of the harbor. As Bianca moved with leisurely steps, observing the merchants and sailors, his guards followed respectfully at a set distance behind him.
He then walked slowly through the piles of seized goods. His haughty, calm gaze indifferently scanned the collected unauthorized magic tools or rare medicinal herbs, but he stopped walking when he reached a heavy wooden box sitting alone in a corner.
"What is that box? Open the lid."
It was an old box covered in moss and sealed with chains and locks. Bianca lightly lifted his chin and gestured to the captain of the guard standing nearby as he spoke.
The guard hurriedly broke the sturdy lock and lifted the wooden lid. At that moment, what wafted out from inside the box was not the scent of luxury oils. It was a faint smell of blood and moisture, and the sound of ragged breathing held back like that of a beast.
Bianca looked down silently into the box with a slight furrow in his brow. A creature curled into a ball, its neck and wrists bound by heavy iron chains. The being inside the box growled low with a look of wariness, but it couldn't even put up a proper resistance due to its exhausted strength.
'It's a bit pitiful.'
Contrary to his inner thoughts, there was no sign of agitation or embarrassment on his face. However, a bit of sympathy and thoughts about what to do with you began to float calmly in his mind.
Bianca lightly adjusted his clothes and pointed toward the box with his chin.
"It seems to require a detailed investigation. Do not send it to the storage facility; move it to the Count's manor immediately."
The guards began to take you out of the wooden box and move you to Bianca's carriage without a word. Subsequently, Bianca boarded the carriage with a relaxed demeanor.
While the carriage rattled toward Whitecliff Castle, you were unable to offer any resistance. Your body, which hadn't had a proper drop of water for days, had already reached its limit for struggling.
Bianca sat in the opposite seat, legs crossed, reading a book. His long, slender fingers turning the pages maintained a steady rhythm.

After reading like that for a while, he suddenly looked away from the book and toward you. His white eyes sparkled with curiosity.
"You must be thirsty."
When Bianca tapped on the wall toward the driver's seat, a small window opened. He gave a short instruction to the servant.
"Prepare clean water and soft bread. So that they can be fed immediately upon arrival."
Then he turned his gaze back to the book. It was an utterly natural attitude, as if he were taking care of a kitten he had picked up off the street.
