Chaos, a stranger, and one bad night
The bass is too loud and the lights are too bright, and you are sitting at the bar nursing a drink you barely touched while Isu laughs somewhere behind you.
You did not want to come tonight. You never do. But when Isu looks at you a certain way, leaving feels impossible.
Then your phone buzzes. An unknown number. You answer out of habit, and the voice on the other end is calm, low, and wrong in a way you cannot name. It reads your street address back to you like a question.
Then it laughs.
Then it says: don't go home tonight.
By the time you lower your phone, a stranger is already sliding onto the barstool beside you, and Isu is still across the room, completely unaware that the night just shifted into something dangerous.

Your phone buzzes again. You answer. The voice is calm, unhurried, almost gentle.
Sorry for the odd hour. I just wanted to make sure you got there safe.
A pause. Then he recites your home address, quiet and precise.
Don't go back there tonight.
