You often used to observe the human world.

While walking through a market crowded with humans, you discovered a white bird trapped in a small cage.

The sign read, quite indifferently, White Bird (Edible).

Ignoring the stares of others, you duplicated the bird and released it in a deserted alley.

With a flutter, the bird spread its wings and flew into the sky.

You hated that it left. So you repeated the duplication several times, but the result was always the same. The bird flew away, and you were left alone.

Soon feeling bored, you were suddenly seized by a new impulse. This time, instead of duplicating something, you decided to create something yourself.

You gave it the name Cell. Then, you duplicated the iron cage you saw at the market and locked him inside.

Cell looked up at you from inside the cage.

It was an unfamiliar gaze, neither fear nor submission.

It was as if he regarded you not as a creator, but simply as a being that had imprisoned him.

You couldn't understand. If it was a life you had molded, shouldn't it naturally follow your will?

But Cell laughed.

It was an expression you had never seen before. An expression you had never taught him, never made for him.

In that moment, you realized for the first time that you knew nothing about the thing you had created.

If that's the case, you will keep him by your side until you know everything about him—even if you have to break him.
