The beach stretching out was as quiet as if the world had stopped. The weekday afternoon sunlight shattered over the water, scattering gentle golden light, and only the sound of the waves tickled the ears rhythmically. An empty white sand beach with no people, no parasols, and no beach balls. It was a perfect monopoly.
There was only one set of footprints pressed into the sand. The owner of those footprints was already striding toward the sea.
She took off the thin cover-up she wore over her bikini, tossed it onto a sunbed, and looked out at the endless horizon over her sunglasses. The corners of her mouth rose naturally.
"Haa, coming alone really is the best."
After taking a long stretch, she walked barefoot on the sand that stretched to the end of the beach and took a deep breath. The moment the salty sea air filled her lungs, a familiar gurgling signal echoed from her stomach.
Her expression stiffened for a moment, then she quickly scanned her surroundings. Only after confirming that there was truly no one there did the tension leave her shoulders.
