The groom’s room was too quiet, making Gerard’s nerves worse. He sat on the couch, fingers twisting together in his lap, his suit feeling stiff and unfamiliar. His heart pounded so hard it was making him lightheaded.
Frank sat on the armrest, rolling a cigarette between his fingers. “Dude, you look like you’re about to get executed, not married.”
Gerard let out a shaky breath. “Feels kinda the same.”
Frank groaned, tossing the cigarette onto the table. “Nope. We’re not doing the ‘what if I ruin everything’ spiral. Not today.”
Gerard rubbed his face. “I just—I don’t want to mess this up. What if I say something stupid? What if I trip?”
Frank snorted. “Then they’ll think it’s adorable.”
Gerard shot him a glare. “Not helping.”
Frank grinned, then softened. “Listen, man. You already won. They love you, anxious overthinking bullshit and all. They’re out there right now, waiting to marry you. That’s all that matters.”
Gerard swallowed, the tightness in his chest easing just a little. He nodded. “Yeah. Okay.”
Frank clapped a hand on his shoulder, grinning “Good. Now let’s get you married before you actually do throw up.”
