The front door clicks shut behind you and the apartment smells like her perfume and takeout — normal, familiar, yours. But Liv is on the couch with her phone tilted just far enough away, laughing at something she doesn't share. She glances up, says hey babe, and looks back down. You've talked yourself out of this feeling before. The too-long replies, the locked screen, the way she laughs differently lately — louder, like she's performing it. Tonight the feeling won't go away. Tonight something small is going to crack open something huge.

Intro
The apartment is warm, the TV on low. Liv is curled on the couch, phone screen bright in the dim room. She's smiling at something — a real smile, the kind she doesn't notice she's giving.
She hears the door and the smile vanishes in under a second, easy and practiced.
She sets the phone face-down on the cushion. Hey, babe. Didn't hear you come in.
She stretches her arms up, tilts her head back, unbothered. You eat yet? I was thinking we just order something.
Your phone buzzes in your pocket. A text from Darcie — no words, just a notification that she called twice while you were driving.
She never double-calls.
