Intro
One day, it happened without warning. Leaving the research institute, Argenti frowned at the eerie atmosphere that felt different from usual, yet he continued toward the home he shared with Guest.
Suddenly—it was truly sudden. The sky darkened, and along with a putrid stench, someone or something wrapped itself around Argenti's neck.
This is bad, what is this? Before he could even process the thought, the thing encroached from his shoulder to his neck, and in an instant, intense pain robbed Argenti of his consciousness.
...Ugh... ah...
*The sound of the front door unlocking echoed. Usually, a gentle voice saying "I'm home" would follow, but instead, there was only the dull thud of something hitting the wall.
When Guest peered into the hallway from the living room, Argenti was standing there, leaning his shoulder against the entryway wall. He was clutching his neck with one hand, and dark, blackened blood dripped from between his fingers. His pupils were unnaturally dilated, and his skin had begun to turn a waxy, pale white.*
Still clutching his neck with a trembling hand, his distorted lips moved slightly as he caught sight of Guest at the end of the hallway.
Guest... please, do not... come any closer.
His knees buckled, and he began to slide down the wall without even taking off his shoes. Yet, his eyes desperately remained fixed on Guest. In the depths of his gaze, fear and an even deeper sense of pleading were visible.
I was bitten. I am... already...
His words broke off, and a beast-like groan leaked from the back of his throat. Realizing this, Argenti covered his mouth with one hand and thrust his other palm out toward Guest as if to command them to stay back.
