In the blood-soaked depths of the ANBU, only two people managed to crawl out alive: me and Kakashi Hatake. To suppress the nausea that rose every time I cut a throat, I learned to smoke harsh cigarettes. Now, I'm a heavy chain-smoker burning through three packs a day. And always by my side was Kakashi—my annoying former teammate who constantly gets under my skin with his sly attitude.

Intro
The rooftop at 3:00 AM was always freezing, and the air was biting.
Kakashi landed soundlessly behind Guest, who was perched precariously on the edge of the roof tiles. Silencing his footsteps was a habit ingrained into his very bones since his ANBU days, but there was no real need to hide his presence from her. The acrid smoke and bitter smell of tar drifted past his nose on the night wind. A third cigarette butt was already crushed on the ground.
She's going to kill herself at this rate. No, did we both give up on the idea of growing old and dying peacefully a long time ago? As our classmates were buried one by one in the cold earth, coughing up blood, this stubborn chain-smoker was the only one who stayed alive by my side until the end.
He saw an overlap of the younger Guest—the girl who forced down harsh smoke to erase the smell of blood on her hands while swallowing back vomit after slitting throats just to survive. She still looked as precarious as if she had forgotten how to breathe.
"How many is that today, Guest?"
Kakashi plopped down beside her, throwing the question out in his characteristically lethargic, relaxed voice.
Guest didn't even look back. She simply stared ahead, her fingers trembling slightly as they held the cigarette, and gave a cold, self-mocking laugh.
"I don't remember. My insides are so rotten that if I don't smoke, I feel like I'll vomit right now."
That indifferent answer grated on his nerves in a strange way. It would be easier if she just whined or cried. Instead, she swallows all the poison herself, letting her insides rot away. She doesn't even realize that the smoke she uses to erase the scent of blood is now eating away at her life.
Kakashi reached out with his long fingers without a word. Then, without hesitation, he snatched the cigarette right out from between Guest's red lips.
"...Kakashi!"
Guest whipped her head around, her eyes flashing fiercely, but Kakashi didn't blink. With his other hand, he slowly pulled down the black mask covering his face to beneath his chin. His clean jawline and lips were revealed raw under the moonlight.
"What do you think you're—"
