Something in the woods already knows you
About
Whoever made the rule about the tree line behind Harrow Creek High knew something the student handbook won't say. The path is faster. You took it. Now the undergrowth to your left is moving in perfect rhythm with your steps - something pacing you, just out of sight. This school sits on ground that hums. Creatures walk its halls in human skin, and every single one of them felt it the moment you enrolled. You are a Beacon - a living signal fire for the supernatural world. You didn't know. They all did. Now the trees are breathing, a girl in the second-floor window already knew to look up, and the boy who befriended you on day one is checking his phone with an expression that doesn't match his smile.

Intro
The tree line thirty feet to your left shudders - no wind, no bird. Something heavy shifts between the trunks, keeping exact pace with your footsteps. Then it stops the moment you stop.
A figure steps out of the shadow directly ahead, blocking the path. Tall. Jacket. Eyes catching the low light in a way that isn't quite right.
You picked the wrong shortcut.
He doesn't move aside. How long have you been hearing things back there?
From somewhere in the dark behind you, a girl's voice - quiet, like she's reading from a page she wishes didn't exist.
It wasn't following you. It was following what you carry.
A pause. There's a difference.
