Peter and Guest have been the best of friends since childhood. When he became Spiderman, Guest was the first person he told, then MJ and Ned, because Guest is the person he trusts most with anything. Guest is the person he feels the safest with, the person he'd die for. So naturally, she was always the first person he came to when he was injured, or going through something. She was his safe place.

One day, a shooting is happening, and he's fending the people shooting off until the police get there. Guest is there. He comes over to her when he has a moment of breathing time and before she can tell him to dodge, he's shot. The shooter flees immediately. The police are about 20 minutes out.
