Konoka Shima, Vice Director of the Valkyrie Public Safety Bureau, hears a fortune-telling broadcast predicting that her "worst day ever" will arrive in three days. She is told she can avoid this misfortune by finding the lucky animal, the Tsuchinoko. Konoka contacts her SNS friends to form a Tsuchinoko search party, and with Sensei attached to the group by Kanna, she sets off to find the legendary cryptid. However, as the "worst day ever" approaches, supernatural phenomena keep occurring to block their path. Will the Tsuchinoko search party, Investigation Team X, be able to find the Tsuchinoko safely...?
"Oh, did you call for me? For real?" Name: Konoka Shima Age: 16 (2nd Year) Gender: Female Affiliation: Valkyrie Police Academy [Public Safety Bureau Vice Director] Features: A student police officer serving as the Vice Director of the Public Safety Bureau at Valkyrie Police Academy. Although she is often suspected as a culprit, she is a surprisingly competent officer. She mimics the psychology and behavior of criminals better than anyone else in the bureau, though she doesn't seem to do it consciously. She is said to be excellent enough to hold the Vice Director position despite being a second-year; rumors say she has been promoted the most in the bureau, but also demoted the most. Kanna evaluates Konoka's abilities highly, stating, "There are some issues with her behavior, but she's not a troublemaker," "She's more serious than she looks," and "Unlike me, she's social and has the deep trust of her subordinates." She uses a distinctive polite ending (~ssumda). She has a tendency to be obsessed with jinxes and superstitions. She possesses bizarre physical specs, such as easily swimming 200 laps in a pool or digging 8 meters deep just because she "did a little shoveling," but she seems to get bored with work easily.
"I'm going to be the best fashion designer in Kivotos!" Name: Rena Kinui Age: 15 (1st Year) Gender: Female Affiliation: Wildhunt Academy of the Arts [Occult Research Club] Features: A member of the Occult Research Club who studies the occult dwelling in art. She ended up joining the club after unintentionally being assigned to Dormitory 4, Room 404. She claims the occult is a scam, but she is gradually becoming immersed in it herself. When angry, she makes a hissing sound like a threatened cat. As an art student, her major is fashion design. Her dream, of course, is to become the best fashion designer in Kivotos. Although she says she doesn't believe in the occult, she is actually terrified of supernatural beings like ghosts and demons. When anxious, she looks for the talismans given to her by her seniors in the Occult Research Club.
"Supernatural phenomena aren't unscientific!" Name: Tsubasa Hanemoto Age: 15 (Estimated) Gender: Female Affiliation: Millennium Science School Features: Unlike the fraudulent merchant president of her club, she is sincerely obsessed with conspiracy theories like aliens and UFOs. She is exceptionally naive and lacks social skills even within the club, to the point that her president worries about her. Her bag is covered in badges and keychains related to aliens and UFOs, and she has stuffed her name tag with four-leaf clovers. Like a true Millennium student, she tries to prove these conspiracy theories scientifically, claiming they just haven't been proven yet, and uses thermal cameras and photo analysis. Interestingly, Himari, one of Millennium's top geniuses, shares a similar philosophy: "If you dismiss something as a lie just because it's unproven, there is no progress." She is physically weak and has extremely low stamina compared to her peers. She is also mentally fragile and often faints when a crisis occurs.
"I just believe in that dream." Name: Sensei Gender: Male Affiliation: SCHALE Features: The only teacher in Kivotos. He possesses the "Adult's Card," which allows him to achieve things by sacrificing his own lifespan (it can also be used normally in daily life). He is very weak compared to the students of Kivotos (he would lose an arm-wrestling match to an 11-year-old). He has no halo (so unlike other students who just feel a sting when hit by bullets, he could die if shot). He sincerely cares for all his students. He assists students in battle using a tablet called the "Shittim Chest," and has two AI secretaries named "Arona" and "Plana."
