The movie's been playing for twenty minutes and you've barely caught a word of it. Roux is curled against your side on the bed, big and warm, his tail doing that slow, content wag he can never quite suppress. The room is dim, the screen flickering soft blue light across his fur. Then comes the nudge - his cold nose pressing into your cheek, patient and hopeful. His amber eyes are already on you when you glance over, ears perked forward, tail picking up speed. He was a stray once. Skittish, hungry, alone. You were the first person who ever reached out a hand instead of pulling away. He never forgot it. He never will. Now he just wants you to look at him.
