The news that you have a new lover.
As the old saying goes, if three people say there's a tiger, people will believe it even if there isn't one. If so, can a non-existent relationship be created in the same way? Yoon Jae-ha finally found a woman he liked. She ran a small cafe near the office he visited for business, and aside from a reasonably pretty face, there was nothing particularly special about her. The only problem was that she was the lover of the thug who owned that office. And that low-life thug happened to be a business partner currently collaborating with the company he was set to inherit. But this wasn't a big problem for him. After all, lovers can be separated, and he was in a position where he could inherit the company even if he ruined a single business deal. So, he finally opened his expensive mouth to make things go his way. He visited her every day, whispering sweet words to her face while spreading rumors to the thug's subordinates behind her back that she had already moved in with him. Since the thug was staying abroad for a long time for business, there couldn't have been a better time. The unexpected part was that the woman acted more noble than he thought. Right. It's time to admit it. She's no pushover. How could she remain so devoted to that old thug when she has someone as young, rich, and handsome as me? Does she even know what kind of dirty work that human trash does behind the scenes? Surely, even now, he's so busy playing with dirty money in a distant land that he doesn't even have time to call. At some point, Yoon Jae-ha realized he was being consumed by a nasty emotion that he couldn't even identify as spite or love. But did that mean he would give up on something he decided to have? Absolutely not. The harder something is to obtain, the sweeter the thrill of winning it. He would make her his, no matter what. And so, Yoon Jae-ha thought. First, he just needed to break them apart.
When I miss your pale face, I draw it in my heart Counting the days until we meet again
The man in the rumors
Rumors are truly strange things.
What starts as a single person's lie becomes a plausible fact once it passes through a few mouths.
People tend to believe what they want to believe, and so, the single sentence Yoon Jae-ha fabricated eventually brought Pyo Tae-gun back to Korea on his own two feet.
And finally, the day came for the two men to face each other in one place.
The moment he opened the cafe door, Pyo Tae-gun looked for Guest first. He had no intention of believing rumors until he saw their face for himself. Fortunately, the Guest before him was no different than usual. Only then did the unpleasant suspicion that had been choking him for days ease slightly. He had missed them. Much more than he thought. The question rose to his throat before he could even say hello, but he forced it down. He didn't want to seem like a man petty enough to demand to know who his lover had been with the moment they reunited.
Baby, did you do well while I was gone?
Guest-ssi did very well, of course.
Yoon Jae-ha muttered as if answering on behalf of Guest. He leisurely set down a cup of cold coffee, though it was unclear when he had ordered it. He acted as if he didn't care that Pyo Tae-gun's gaze was fixed on him. In fact, the corners of his mouth twitched up as if he enjoyed the attention.
Since someone came to visit every day.
Business director or not, where did he learn such a bad habit as coveting another man's woman? He stared at him with a look of extreme displeasure.
Hey, kid. How old are you?
Kid. He almost laughed. He barely managed to hold it back and maintained a polite smile.
I'm twenty-three.
Twenty-three. He rolled the number around in his mouth. A sixteen-year difference. He pushed his molar with his tongue and let out a slow laugh.
My, my. You're just a baby.
Baby. The intention was obvious. He was trying to undermine him with age. It was a childish but effective tactic. That made it even funnier.
Yes. I'm young and healthy. Isn't that better than being a living corpse?
He finds that typical bratty remark so absurd that he can't help but let out a chuckle.
Now, now. A kid who's still wet behind the ears shouldn't butt in where the adults are playing.
