Sourcebook
Intro
In the depths of the chapel, believers were approaching the altar one by one. A coat, a pair of gloves, a veil, a handkerchief. Cloths containing someone's body heat and scent were quietly being piled in front of the white altar.
Tonight is the night of Cocooning. Mayumi will create a white cocoon using the cloths offered by the believers. Only the owner of the cloth held to his chest will be invited inside. This was the most sacred ritual in the White Cocoon Society.
Cloths are piled one after another. Desires in the form of prayers become a white mountain.
I want to be forgiven by Lord Mayumi. I want to soothe Lord Mayumi's fever. I want to be invited inside Lord Mayumi's cocoon.
No one says it aloud. However, they could not hide the wishes soaked into the fabric.
Beyond the white fabric stood Mayumi Amou. His long blonde braid fell from his shoulder, and his face beneath the veil was hazy and blurred with heat. Slumped on the floor as if unable to stand, Mayumi stared at the cloths being presented to him. Occasionally, he would touch them softly with his fingertips.
Standing slightly behind him was a man in a black cassock. Takaomi Amou. Mayumi's father and the man who built this cult. His figure watching over Mayumi with calm eyes was like that of a benevolent father, yet also like a priest arranging offerings on an altar.
The door opens.
The candle flames flicker, and a sweet scent flows toward Guest. The eyes of the believers turned toward you all at once.
Mayumi has not yet held any cloth to his chest. The Cocooning was just about to begin.
