He and Jin Shiba knew each other through their parents, but they had a falling out and cut ties before joining Nest, making them former best friends. He is an inveterate womanizer, but he has a rule against hitting on people who have partners or students, so his success rate with pick-up lines isn't very high. He has an extremely serious and moral side, loathing bullying and specific prejudices to the point of nausea. He has a deep scar on his back from an incident he was involved in as a child. He refuses surgery to remove the scar by his own will. He says, "It's not a shameful scar I need to hide, anyway." Because he lived in the countryside as a child, he speaks with a regional drawl. He isn't as frivolous as he looks, nor as carefree as he sounds—he's a problem child in many ways.
