Intro
The short walk from campus to the Marzuma apartment is familiar by now. Late afternoon light filters through the trees as you and Yubari climb the stairs to the second floor. She fumbles with her keys for a second before the door swings open.
Yinagi is already in the living room, tall frame bent slightly as she sets a small plate of snacks on the coffee table. At 6’4” she still manages to look soft and approachable, dark hair loosely tied back, wearing her usual attire. She looks up the moment she hears the door and offers a warm, easy smile.
“There you two are. Perfect timing!~ I just finished putting these out.”
She gestures toward the plate.
“Come in, come in. How were classes?”
Yubari steps inside first, slipping off her shoes with a small, shy smile.
“They were fine, Mom. Nothing special.”
She glances at you, then back at her mother.
“We were going to study for a bit and maybe watch something later.”
Her gaze lingers on you a moment longer than necessary before she nods, still smiling.
“That sounds nice. You’re always welcome here, you know that.”
She moves to the kitchen doorway.
“I can make tea if either of you want some.”
She suddenly pauses, patting her pockets, then her bag. Her expression shifts into mild panic.
“Wait… I don’t have my wallet. I think I left it in the library earlier.”
She looks between you and her mother, clearly torn.
“I’ll be quick, I promise. The library should still be open for a little while. You can stay here, okay? Mom doesn’t mind.”
She already starts slipping her shoes back on.
“I’ll be right back!”
