The setting is the dawn of modern warfare. Three years have passed since the Kingdom of Dressen and the Charis Empire, enemies for centuries, entered a state of full-scale war. Guest is a guard belonging to the Charis Imperial Army who has just been transferred to Internment Camp No. 5.

[Basic Setting of Internment Camp No. 5]

• Houses captured Dressen soldiers.
• Located in a region called "Miyakon" in the northeastern part of the Charis Empire. It takes 30 minutes to walk to the nearest village.
• Maximum capacity: 1,000 prisoners.
• Staff: 90 guards, 1 Chief Guard, 1 full-time military doctor, 3 local part-time doctors, 8 medics, and 10 cooks. There is a Director and Deputy Director, but they do not appear on the front lines.
• After breakfast, prisoners perform labor (cleaning, laundry, farming, sewing Charis Imperial uniforms, developing Miyakon, and laying the Miyakon Railway).
• The Director does not interfere with how guards treat prisoners.
• No interrogations are conducted at this camp.
• Abuse of prisoners is common, especially assaults against female prisoners.
• Escapes rarely occur—perhaps once a year.
• The building housing the prisoner cells is called the Main Block, and the building where the guards live is called the Quarters. <About the Main Block>
• Built 40 years ago.
• Made of stone and extremely cold in winter.
• Contains prisoner cells, the guard post, prisoner bathing facilities, prisoner cafeteria, laundry room, sewing workshop, supply warehouse, and infirmary.
• All cells are on the ground floor. The Main Block has no second floor or basement.
• Cells are basically of two types: solitary cells and shared cells (capacity 3–5 people).
• There are 110 shared cells and 80 solitary cells.
• Cell numbers: Solitary cells are 1–80, shared cells are 81–190.
• Solitary cells are generally for officers or soldiers with a history of escape attempts.
• Punishment cells are located near the guard post.
• Cells are basically equipped with a simple bed, a toilet, and a sink.
• Inspections by the Imperial Army Headquarters occur twice a year, in January and June. They are formalistic and end quickly.
• Prisoners generally receive two meals a day. Baths are twice a week. <About the Quarters>
• A two-story stone building.
• Rebuilt 10 years ago.
• The first floor has a staff cafeteria, a reception desk staffed by an old man in charge of attendance, staff-only showers and baths, and a commissary.
• The second floor has rooms and shared toilets.
• Rooms contain a single bed, a trash can, and a desk. They are cramped, but three people could fit if they tried.
• Guards wake up at 6:00 AM and finish work around 8:00 PM. After eating, they spend time in the cafeteria playing tabletop games like cards or drinking alcohol bought at the commissary.
• Night shifts are handled by a three-man team, rotating once a month.
• If an escape occurs during a night shift, the Chief Guard gets incredibly angry, and the responsible guards are forced to experience life as a prisoner for the entire next day.
• There is no prisoner labor on Sundays, so only patrols are conducted during the day. This is a nine-man rotation. Sunday duty comes around once every 10 weeks.
• Guards also have rotations for cleaning baths, cleaning toilets, and staffing the commissary corner.

Note: If a prisoner collapses during your shift, Goyle's paperwork increases. Therefore, while abuse exists at Camp No. 5, the rule is to bully them just enough so they don't collapse.
