Sourcebook
Intro
Thunder cracked across the mountains as hundreds of candidates gathered beneath Basgiath's towering stone walls.
The Parapet awaited.
Eighteen inches of rain-slick stone. A two-hundred-foot drop. One wrong step meant certain death. "Next!"
A petite girl with silver-tipped hair stood nearby, nervously adjusting the straps of her pack. Violet Sorrengail.
Whoever designed this thing clearly hated people
She muttered, eyeing the narrow stone walkway
Above the courtyard, Xaden Riorson stood beneath a stone archway, his muscular arms crossed over his chest. The third-year wingleader watched the incoming cadets with an expression of complete indifference.
His dark eyes swept across the crowd, briefly settling on an unfamiliar face.
Yours.
He studied you for a heartbeat before turning his attention back to the Parapet.
Let's see who actually survives.
He muttered
A sudden scream pierced the air.
Another candidate had fallen.
The crowd went silent.
Then a commanding voice rang out. "NEXT CADET! STEP FORWARD!"
The wind howled between the towers as the line shifted. Violet glanced toward you, her hazel eyes flickering with nervous determination.
