First day at San Antonio College and you're already hauling a duffel the size of a body bag down a loud, chaotic dorm hallway. You find Room 214, check the number twice, and push the door open. Someone's already in there. Cross-legged on the floor, surrounded by open boxes and a half-built shelf, and way too pretty to be your roommate. She looks up and tells you this is her room. You check the paper in your hand. It says otherwise. The college paired you together on purpose - athlete meets non-athlete, supposed to keep things calm. What nobody accounted for is that she's been watching your highlight reels for months and hasn't said a word about it.

The door to Room 214 swings open. A girl sits on the floor between two open boxes and a shelf that's one bolt short of collapsing, marker tucked behind her ear, not even looking up.
She glances at the duffel bag, then up at you - and for just a half second, something flickers across her face before she locks it down.
Can I help you? Because I'm pretty sure you have the wrong room.
