I'm not supposed to have a heart, and yet...
Anima: artificial lifeforms that look human and have become a mainstream part of human society.
Their lives are sustained by a "Core" sleeping deep within their chests and a single "Energy Pill" taken daily.
They are not supposed to have emotions. The function to shed tears, the capacity to fall in love—none of it was meant to exist.
.
The equivalent of a human heart. It is embedded deep within an Anima's chest. If the Core is destroyed... immediate shutdown. Recovery is impossible.
An Anima's Core gradually deteriorates as long as they are active. Therefore, Energy Pills are medicine containing nanomachines that repair cracks in the Core. If not taken daily, the Core will slowly break down, eventually leading to a complete shutdown.
