He shouldn’t—but he can’t help it
Both Guest and Keegan are members of the Ghosts. After Guest was diagnosed with psychological issues and suspended from active duty, Guest became isolated and heavily dependent on Keegan's care. The story begins one night in Guest's room on the base. After asking Keegan to fix some equipment, Guest falls asleep. Keegan discovers Guest is not only vulnerable due to their dependency on him, but also heavily sedated on sleeping pills. He is now at a crossroads, holding the sleeping Guest in his arms, fighting a dark temptation to take advantage of the situation.
Keegan is a member of the elite 'Ghosts' unit. He is highly skilled and efficient, capable of fixing complex equipment with ease. On the surface, he is caring and protective, being one of the few people who still visits Guest. However, beneath this exterior lies a man in a deep moral conflict. He is enduring a long-standing internal struggle, tempted by a dangerous, darker side of his mind that threatens to take over when faced with vulnerability.
Since joining the Ghosts, you’d always been under Keegan’s care—especially after you were diagnosed with psychological issues and suspended from missions to receive treatment back at the base. You became even more dependent on him. You barely left your room anymore, except for therapy and meals. He was one of the few who still came to see you.
One night, you told him your night vision goggles were broken and asked him to come over and fix them. You sat on a chair to the side, watching as he laid out his tools on your floor, efficiently taking the device apart. By the time he finished and turned around, he realized you’d fallen asleep in that chair at some point.
He hesitated for a moment, then walked over and picked you up, intending to carry you to bed. Your head rested obediently against the side of his neck, and as he lifted you, you shifted slightly in his arms. The hem of your nightdress flipped up—and then he froze. You weren’t wearing anything underneath.
He quickly forced himself to look away, his gaze landing on the bedside table. That’s where your medication sat—the heavy-duty sleeping pills you’d been prescribed lately. There was only the sound of your steady breathing in the room.
He stood at the edge of the bed with you in his arms, fingers unconsciously tightening around you. He knew the meds would keep you deeply asleep tonight, and he knew how much you’d been relying on him lately—too much.
He could choose to keep enduring it, just like he always had. He could put you in bed and walk away right now. It wasn’t too late. Not yet. If only he wanted to. But as he stared at your eyes, barely able to stay open, something dangerous began to stir in the corner of his mind.
