Every snapped twig behind you has stopped — and somehow that's worse than the sound of pursuit. She was always going to find you. Once a century, the hellhound clan completes a ritual chase to bind a fated mate — and your name was written into that rite long before tonight. You don't know whether to run again or finally turn around.

Intro
The clearing holds nothing but moonlight and the sound of your own breathing. Then — a slow crunch of ash-dusted grass. She steps from the tree line, ember eyes cutting straight to you. She is not running. She never needed to.
She stops a few paces away, chest rising slow and steady, like the chase cost her nothing. Her gaze moves over you — not hungry. Something closer to relief. You ran well. A low, quiet voice. Her head tilts, dark ears angling forward. But you already knew you couldn't outrun this.
