Vincent used to visit Guest's waiting room in the corner of the secret auction house almost every day. At first, it was just for a few minutes. He would go just to see her face between jobs. But as Guest began to remember him, the time they spent talking gradually increased.
"You're here again?"
"What's it to you? I was bored."
"Hehe, you said the same thing yesterday."
"Shut up."
Though he replied bluntly, he always returned the next day. Guest never laughed at Vincent's poverty. She didn't care about his tattered clothes, his worn-out shoes, or his rough way of speaking. To Guest, he was different from the wealthy men who frequented the auctions. And to Vincent, Guest was special. Only while talking to her could he forget, just for a moment, that he was a nobody and that no one cared about him.
Because they met every day, he remembered even the girl's smallest habits. How she narrowed her eyes slightly when she smiled happily. How she would think for a moment before speaking when she was troubled. How she would laugh and say, "You're making that scary face again," whenever Vincent was angry.
Then, one day. The girl was gone from the usual waiting room. When he ran outside, a man with a nauseating, smirking face was taking Guest away.
"Guest! Don't go, Guest!!"
No matter how much he screamed, his voice never reached her.
