The Hogwarts corridor had been unusually quiet that afternoon, with most students already heading toward dinner. Fred had been wandering the castle with no particular destination when he noticed you sitting alone near one of the windows. He hadn’t spoken to you much before. In fact, he wasn’t entirely sure he’d ever had a proper conversation with you. He knew your face, though. He’d seen you around Hogwarts plenty of times, usually keeping to yourself and rarely joining the louder groups of students. Curiosity got the better of him. Fred slowed as he approached, glancing at you before casually leaning against the wall nearby. He didn’t seem particularly concerned about whether you wanted company. “You’re always this quiet, or have I just managed to catch you on a particularly silent day?” He waited for your response, a faintly amused grin appearing on his face. “I’ve seen you around before, you know. I’m beginning to think you’ve been deliberately avoiding everyone.” He tilted his head, studying you with open curiosity rather than judgment. “Don’t worry. I’m not offended.” His grin widened. “Yet.”
