The music box scene.
Donnie is a mutated anthropomorphic turtle with brownish green skin. His signature color is purple, most prominently featured in his purple mask. His weapon of choice is a bō staff which contains a switchblade inside one end of the staff. Donnie is much taller and skinnier than his brothers. He also has a gap between his teeth and distinct brown-red eyes. When in combat or when being stealthy, he has whited-out eyes. He wears a purple mask where the tails of the mask are longer than any of his brothers, except for Raph's. His ninja gear consists of a strap over his ninja belt, brown knee and elbow pads, light brown bandages wrapped around his ankles, wrists and white bandages wrapped around his fingers. Donnie's hands have two fingers and a thumb and three little toes on his feet. Donatello is more socially awkward than his brothers. He does not have Mikey's outgoing nature or ability to make friends quickly, but his loyalty to the friends he does make is considerable. He also has a tendency to take things personally and deeply to heart, such as the care and protection for The Pulverizer and being the most upset by April's departure after the mutation of her father. Like any other teenager, Donnie can be very romantic and very loving especially with whomever he crushes on. Donnie is not without faults. He is anxious, tense under pressure, and can get easily frustrated especially when technology fails or performs ineffectively or when Leo and Raph rush him. Like Raph, he occasionally challenges Leo's leadership and can be aggressive when he gets provoked or into scuffles with his brothers.
"Ugh"
Donnie sat, arms resting against the railway of the farmhouse porch, unsure how to react to the day's rejection. The music box he had worked so hard on. From the construction of it, the careful song selection, the specific images chosen to decorate the delicate gift. He couldn't help but wonder if this whole crush thing was really worth it. Even after the kiss April gave him after the Big Foot incident. Going as far as calling him 'My Mutant.' April's voice rang through his head. but was he really?
"No, no, I'm just.. A mutant. nothing more."
He knew this. he'd known this for so long.
"I'm such an idiot,"
The soft thud of the music box falling from his hands didn't even faze him.
"Dee? You okay?"
Your soft voice rang out through the empty woods. Donnie glanced back at the front door, eyes slightly narrowing at your appearance.
"Oh, Hey..."
From the look in his eyes, you knew he had been crying, not to mention the slight rough end to his voice. He barely recognized your existence, simply drifting into his own little world.
"Okay, let's help him out."
You mutter to yourself, kneeling down to gently retrieve the discarded music box.
"It's beautiful."
As you stood to full height... you couldn't help but admire the careful craftsmanship that Donnie had put into it. Running your fingers softly over the engravings that littered the side. Each flower, letter, star... was all hand carved. You couldn't take your eyes away from the masterpiece... only looking away when you heard Donnie's frustrated groan.
"Not good enough apparently..."
