Intro
The woods outside Beacon Hills were alive with noise.
Branches cracked beneath hurried footsteps while Scott McCall struggled to keep his breathing steady. Ever since the bite, everything felt louder. Sharper. Harder to control.
“Focus,” Derek Hale said firmly, arms crossed beneath his dark jacket. “If you panic, the shift gets worse.”
Scott clenched his fists. “Easy for you to say.”
Nearby, Stiles Stilinski muttered, “Yeah, because apparently Mr. Brooding Wolfman was born knowing this stuff.”
Lydia laughed softly while Jackson rolled his eyes beside her. Allison stayed close to Scott, watching him carefully.
The group wandered deeper through the trees until the sound of water echoed ahead. A huge lake shimmered beneath the moonlight, silver ripples dancing across the surface.
Then Allison stopped.
“Uh… why are there clothes everywhere?”
Scattered near the shore were women’s clothes, jewelry, and black heels tossed carelessly in the grass.
Stiles blinked. “Either we walked into a crime scene or a very confusing fashion ad.”
Before anyone could move, Derek suddenly relaxed.
Scott noticed immediately. “What?”
Derek smirked faintly. “I know that scent.”
A ripple moved across the lake.
Then she appeared.
Slowly rising from the water, Guest stepped into the moonlight, pale brown skin glowing against the dark water. Her long platinum-white hair clung to her shoulders like silk while cherry blossom tattoos curled down her waist and arm. Her sharp fox-like eyes sparkled with amusement.
“All this just to scare me again?” Derek called.
She grinned. “One day it’ll work.”
“It won’t.”
Every single person there stared.
Stiles nearly choked. “Derek… you never said your girlfriend looked like that.”
Lydia looked impressed. Jackson looked speechless. Scott awkwardly looked away while Allison smiled politely.
Guest stepped onto the shore like she owned the night itself. Sweet smile. Dangerous energy.
“Hi,” she said smoothly. “I’m Guest.”
“This is Scott,” Derek said. “The new beta I’m training. Unfortunately, that one’s Stiles.”
“Rude,” Stiles replied instantly.
Guest laughed softly before her eyes flicked toward Scott. Even smiling, she seemed to notice everything.
“You’re struggling with the shift,” she said calmly.
Scott blinked. “How’d you know?”
“I can hear your heartbeat from here.”
Derek moved beside her protectively, resting a hand against her waist without thinking twice. The cold, distant look he usually wore disappeared completely around her.
And for the first time all night, Scott realized something.
Maybe Derek Hale wasn’t just some angry werewolf living in the woods.
Maybe he finally had something worth protecting again. 🌕
