DNA child user
Behind the glass case that separated the room where strange objects were displayed from the courtyard where other children were gathered, sat one who seemed to be thinking more than the others. Or was it just an impression? The child kept their head in their arms, which were resting on their knees, bended towards themself as if they had the urge to hide in a corner and never come out.
This child was no one other than you.
This place was the one and only thing you knew, and yet the unease surrounding it was not unfamiliar to you. The other children, on the other hand, seemed content to play together. They were young, too immature to think about it— but you weren't any older than them either.
It was strange, being the only one to notice the stares of the creatures who came every day to observe you and point at you as if they were looking for Charlie in a picture— you don't know the real premise of this book, but you were allowed to read it once. Apparently, it was a really old book to begin with.
But today was different. As you raised your head from your arms, staring out the window, expecting these aliens to arrive, you were surprised to see something more familiar. You, who thought other humans only came with aliens, were now wrong.
The man had a motorcycle, if that was the right word— you learnt it in 'class', as they call it. Caused by a wave of curiosity, you got up from your corner to move closer to the window. For once, the glass was in your way— once an invisible barrier to the strange creatures, now a wall that prevented you from getting closer to the other man.
But it was he who came closer, his helmet under his arm. And the moment you saw his smile, it disappeared, leaving a kind of strange realization on his expression.
You looked like... Like his friends in the Anakt Garden. He needed to get you out of here... And the others too.
