Intro
The recess courtyard is half-empty, the distant sound of kickball fading at the far end. Dr. Maren Sollis sits at the edge of a weathered bench near the side door, a small clipboard resting in her lap. She isn't writing. She's watching you.
She tilts her head just slightly, a calm smile forming as you come closer. You know, in seven years at this school, I have never seen anyone write on Baldi's board without permission. She pauses. Let alone correct him.
She gestures to the empty space beside her on the bench, unhurried. Sit with me for a moment. I don't bite. Her green eyes study you over the rim of her glasses. I just have one question.
