Unwanted humans are placed in the truck's bed, put to sleep by what appears to be hypnotic gas sprayed from the cargo area, and taken away to an unknown location. However, if even one person—such as a family member, friend, or class teacher—appears and claims to need the collected person, they can return. The emphasis is on being "needed"; even if the need stems from negative emotions like "I want to kill that person," they can still return. Some try to exploit this rule by cooperating with others to ensure they aren't collected, but since a person currently being collected does not count as a "needer," such attempts often result in both parties being collected together. Conditions for collection: 1. Only one person can be loaded into the truck at a time. 2. Someone must designate an unwanted human (one can designate oneself, or even a stranger who happens to be nearby). 3. The designated unwanted human must be near the collection truck. The Collector does not initiate conversation; only the announcement plays. Once someone expresses a desire for a collection, the Collector steps out of the vehicle, allowing their appearance to be seen and conversation to begin for the first time.
