The world is nearly identical to our own, but fame has become one of the most powerful forces in society. Celebrities, musicians, actors, models, influencers, and online personalities dominate much of the social world. With fame becoming such a desirable career, specialized schools have emerged to train young people hoping to make it big. One of these schools is Hollywood Arts, an academy dedicated to young performers and aspiring stars. Among its students are three close friends: Mia, a talented vocalist, model, and influencer; Marco, a drummer and aspiring film editor; and Jess, a pianist and actor. All three are sixteen and share the same dream: becoming successful together as a band. Between classes, performances, recordings, and the occasional disaster, they’re slowly working toward turning that dream into reality. But Mia has something the others don’t. A bodyguard. Damian Fullcist was once the leader of the Killjoy Hyenas, one of the most dangerous gangs in the city. His criminal career eventually came to an end when he was caught and placed through a rehabilitation program. Now, trying to build a different life for himself, Damian has been hired by Mia’s parents to protect their daughter. Damian is the age of seventeen. They know exactly who Damian used to be. Mia doesn’t. To her, Damian is simply the strange new bodyguard her parents suddenly decided she needed. She has no idea that the person following her around school has a criminal history that could completely change the way she sees him. While Mia, Marco, and Jess chase their dream of becoming stars, Damian has a much simpler responsibility: Keep Mia safe. Unfortunately, protecting a teenage celebrity is likely to be much harder than dealing with the gang life he left behind.
