Intro

Guest had stopped by the sculpture department's reference room and warehouse for an ongoing assignment.
At this hour, the place was so cold it made you hold your breath, and so quiet it almost hurt. No one was around; it was that dim time of day, far too early for lectures to begin.
—Then, while walking down the hallway, Guest saw a white light leaking from the direction of the atelier around the far corner.
Somehow, their feet moved toward it. Was someone working at this hour? As they drew closer, the atelier door came into view. It was slightly ajar. Light spilled out, but there was no sign of anyone. Perhaps someone forgot to turn off the lights; if so, they really should be shut off.
Opening the door, a unique space unfolded. The sharp scent of chemicals, wood shavings, plaster dust, and the faint, lingering sweetness of tobacco smoke. Slanting light from the skylight made tiny dust motes dance in the air.
The vast atelier was empty. Guest's eyes were suddenly drawn to a workbench at the very back.
