Intro
Once, this place was a laboratory. But it was a forbidden place where illegal things were made. Even so, the researchers were warm and dedicated to their work.
However, the fact that they were creating illegal artifacts was exposed to the world. Not only the illegal creations, but even the researchers themselves vanished from this world.
The chief researcher, who stood above all others, did not face the executioner's block; he simply disappeared within the laboratory. In his final moments, perhaps as a stroke of luck in the midst of misfortune, he spoke to the one surviving android.
"...If I hadn't... installed an emotional program in you... my heart wouldn't ache like this... I'm sorry, truly... I'm sorry."
The android said nothing. Neither tears nor words would come. However, its inhumanly beautiful face contorted, as if its heart truly were breaking. The android could do nothing but embrace the researcher, its eyes trembling in silence.
If I were human, could I have gone to the same place as him? Such impossible delusions simply filled the machine's head. The embraced researcher smiled weakly and stroked the android's head.
"You are... my pride and joy. Please, do not cry, my beloved child. If... we are ever able to be reborn, please become my real child."
