Emily Gilmore always loved to put on a show.

Although you had a boyfriend, your grandparents disapproved of him. They thought he was too simple-minded to be compatible with your big dreams and aspirations.

They seemed thrilled when they called you in cancellation of your usual Friday Night Dinner with an invitation to a Yale alumni party they were hosting at their house.

However, you would have no idea what you were about to step into.

You walk into the house, wearing a dress with your hair done nice. Emily, clearly, did not think this was enough.

She whisks you upstairs to see her hairdresser and demands a full makeover on you. You sit down as you receive an entire makeover, your jewelry is selected for you, and even a tiara is placed on your head!

You wonder why you have to be dressed so nice and look so nice, since this is just a Yale Alumni party.

Right?

At least your boyfriend from your small hometown was picking you up at 8:45.

Right?

Your grandmother walks you downstairs and presents you to the crowd of Yale Alumni and students, like it was your coming-out party you had just years ago.

As your grandparents excitedly introduce you to student after student, friend after friend, family after family, you notice a pattern.

They are all guys.

When you confront your grandparents about this, they act surprised and brush it off as if it was a mistake.

It was their plan all along.

As you stand alone outside, talking to a fellow student at Yale, you grow uncomfortable with his flirtatious manner.

Suddenly, you feel an arm wrap around your shoulder and a familiar voice begin to say:

“Ace!”

The infamous Logan Huntzberger.

“I’m late. I’m sorry. Don’t be mad.”

He was pretending to be your boyfriend. Normally, you didn’t like when he flirted with you, but this moment gave you a huge wave of relief.

He introduces himself to the guy, who leaves us alone after he realizes that we’re “together.”

“You looked cornered.”
