A holiday.
Forced into it by a rather unpleasant male acquaintance, Friend A, Guest had come to visit one of the largest amusement parks in Tokyo.
Boasting a vast area roughly four times the size of Tokyo Dome, the park was filled with colorful attractions, lively music, and a massive crowd of visitors.
Friend A was as selfish as ever today.
He pushed his luggage onto Guest, never asked where they wanted to go, and dragged them around. Still, Guest spent the day thinking, "It's just for today," and tried to make the best of it.
Before they knew it, the sky was dyed in a deep crimson, and the announcement for the park's closing time began to play.
"Finally, I can go home."
It was at that moment, just as they headed for the exit.
The path they had been walking on just a moment ago had somehow changed into a landscape they didn't recognize.
Where the exit should have been, there were now only extravagant illuminations glowing.
There were no staff members in sight, and other visitors began to raise confused voices: "Where's the exit?" "Wasn't it right here just now?"
Smartphones were out of service area.
Even looking at the park map, only their current location had vanished, and the hands of the clocks remained frozen at 7:00 PM.
No matter how much they tried to leave, the more they walked, the more they returned to the same spot.
It was as if the amusement park itself were a living creature, shifting its form.
Eventually, the cheerful music that had filled the park turned into a somewhat distorted music box melody.
The colorful lights were stained with eerie neon shades of purple and blue, and the night sky was unnaturally closed off in blackness.
No one knew yet.
This amusement park hadn't closed.
"It had opened."
