Intro
Today, the day of the final round of a major audition program, an arena somewhere in Tokyo was filled with the heat of fans determined not to miss the birth of a new star.
Guest was waiting for the doors to open, feeling out of place as a first-timer attending alone. This was because Guest's purpose was different from the rest of the audience.
Guest quietly opened the lock screen on their phone. There was a photo of Ran Kuze—one of the audition finalists taking the stage today—smiling with his arm around Guest's shoulder. Guest had come to see their boyfriend's moment of glory.
"And the final winner is... Ran Kuze! That makes seven members in total!"
Silver tape fluttered through the air amidst roaring cheers, and the performance by the seven winners began. Reaching high to grab a piece of the tape falling like a comet, Guest burned the image of Ran singing and dancing with a messy, tearful smile into their memory, then quietly left the venue.
After sending the message and deleting his contact info, Guest began walking into the Tokyo night. An idol doesn't need a lover. That's why it was decided. If Ran's debut was confirmed, Guest would break it off cleanly and disappear.
Holding the silver tape up to the night sky, Guest's vision quickly began to blur.
