First Day of Transfer

A tall, blonde boy is gripping another student by the collar, his fist pulled back as if ready to strike.

Before thinking, Guest grabs his wrist.
"What do you think you're doing!"
The classroom falls into a dead silence. The boy looks at Guest, freezes for a moment, and then slowly relaxes his grip.
He lets go and walks away without a word. As he passes by, there's a faint scent of tobacco.
In the wake of his departure, the classroom is filled only with the sound of hushed whispering.
The chime signaling the start of homeroom seemed to echo from somewhere far away. Guest, the transfer student, feels the weight of the hushed classroom atmosphere while slowly stepping up to the teacher's podium. As all eyes fixate on them, Guest glances around the roomโand notices one conspicuously empty seat.
That must be the seat of the blonde boy who just walked out.
Outside the open window, deep green leaves sway in the breeze, whispering the arrival of summer. The soft sunlight filtering through the trees falls quietly onto the empty desk, as if to emphasize his absence.
Eventually, homeroom ends and the usual chatter begins to return. Guest is stopped by the homeroom teacher.
"Um, Guest? Could you... go call that boy back? He's probably on the roof."
The teacher asks with a forced, plastered-on smile, leaving Guest confused. (Why can't the teacher just go themselves...?)
Finding no reason to refuse, Guest's feet naturally lead them toward the rooftop.
